The Open Capture Campaign is now live, with thousands of RP-only missions launching in 40 metro areas, each rewarding 250 Reputation Points (10X the standard rate). 

What this means for pilots:

• More missions than ever: Fly as much as you want without competitive scarcity
• Improve your reservation ability: With 100 RP equating to a single reservation: One RP-only mission = two future reservations. Two RP-only missions = five future reservations. 
• Build your network reputation: RP represents a pilot’s reputation and contributions to the LayerDrone network. 
• No cash: These missions only offer RP rewards.

White hexagons in your app = 250 RP-only missions. Gold hexagons = cash + 25 RP priority missions (continuing as normal).

What this means for LayerDrone, the network powering Spexi:

This campaign stress tests the protocol while building the network’s supply-to-demand flywheel: more flights → better coverage → more valuable data → more data customers → more rewards 

1. More missions create more comprehensive coverage of the LayerDrone network
2. More coverage attracts more and larger customers
3. More customers create more demand-led (paid) missions for pilots
4. More missions mean more rewards for pilots, and more pilots contributing to the network, expanding coverage

Why fly an RP-only mission?

Each RP-only mission earns 250 RPs. Since reserving a mission costs 100 RP, one flight gives you the capacity to lock in 2 future paid missions. Compare that to standard missions (25 RP each), where you'd need 4 flights to earn one reservation, or 10 flights to earn 250 RP.

e.g. Fly 4 Open Capture missions this weekend → Earn 1,000 RP → Reserve 10 priority missions over the next month.

Why RP-Only?

Spexi currently pays cash when mission data has immediate business value. The RP-only missions in the Open Capture campaign means pilots can move up the RP leaderboards and increase their trackable contributions to LayerDrone while growing the network’s base map and network capacity. RP rewards also unlock more reservations for pilots to use on priority missions.

Note that priority, demand-led missions with cash rewards are still flyable on the network as gold hexagons. 

Why the Southern US?

Snow, low sun angles, and unpredictable weather make northern captures harder and less valuable right now. The South offers consistent conditions, better lighting, and more enjoyable flying.
